On Sunday 19th November two of Veras Academy’s athletes travelled to Worcester to compete in the 9th Central England International Open, Vadim Druta and George Gentili-Walsh.

After nearly 3 years since George last competed, he took to the tatami to represent Veras Academy in para kata – para standing category, where he proved the stereotypes for invisible disabilities wrong and secured a bronze medal.

Vadim put on a brave performance against some strong karate-ka’s in the 12-13 years -55kg Male Kumite category, placing third and bringing back a bronze medal back to Veras Academy LDN.

Although sensei Raphael couldn’t be there on the day of the competition, the competitors were in safe hands with their coaches. Sense Raphael said “To see two of our competitors back on the tatami makes me exceptionally proud – they’ve worked hard to prepare themselves for the competition but without the help of our senseis and sempais, it wouldn’t be possible.”
